The article doesn't seem to say what they think the problem is down to... don't like the sound of it myself :-/

Latest news (Beeb 6 O'clock), traces the problem to fuel purchased from Morrison's and Tesco and supplied by a fuel company called Greenergy. The problem seems to arise (my guess) from some fraction of the fuel remaining unburnt and contaminating the Lambda sensor (they call it 'oxygen sensor') so that the ECU either shuts down the EFI or switches to fault-mode, making the car fairly undriveable. Some poor sod has been quoted £800 to replace the Lambda sensor - I think he's being ripped off...
