Hi Folks, Almost a week into my purchase I have a few bits to tidy up on my new 1998 Chimaera. My wing mirrors are a little loose I guess because of all the handling them over the years with the door button etc, Can anyone advise how to tighten them or fix the problem, Dont wanna just glue them if thats not the right way.

Also again I guess through usage the door cards are quite loose from pulling on them to close the doors, mainly loose at the top, again any advice how to tidy them up

Thanks peeps

Phil

My advice is upgrade to the later Corrado mirrors

You should order a Chim/Griff Bible from Amazon or TVRCC, it has most the answers you require and more.

There are other sources of on-line info:

www.chimaerapages.com/default.php
www.thegriffithpages.com/
The FAQs on here (click on ThisForum->ShowFAQs.

Get the bible as advised.....personally I would buy it from the car club office! i ordered one from Amazon......it was far longer than the estiamte they gave me. In the end I cancelled and got it almost next day delivery from the TVRCC office....

I have never done anything with my mirrors as a DIY. Mine worked loose once but was under warranty...sorry I can't help with that aspect!

Funny how nobody bothered to answer the poor guys question for nearly a month.... then a flurry of comments scratchchin

In reflection, there was a thread somewhere which considered alternative mirrors ~ there are plenty of modern ones at the moment that mount to the body panels that could be suitable candidates. The Citroen and VW ones are much rarer and expensive...

I've recently completed a similar job on mine. With regard to the trim, when refitting the carpet covered 'cards' I used small red rawl plugs which I had trimmed to about 2 thirds original length. This give a better purchase for the self tapping screws and should prevent the holes enlarging again.
