993 wiper trick
Discussion
I just found out a trick for those of you who don't like the wipers being parked in their line of sight obscuring the road or the view of the front wing and bonnet.
Go to the fuse box in the luggage compartment and pull relay no. 42. This will allow you to park the wipers wherever they happen to be when you turn them off at the stalk, so by timing it correctly you can make them rest on the left hand side of the screen (on a RHD car).
The main drawback to pulling the relay is that the intermittent wiper function doesn't work any more.

Aren't they parked on the right on purpose so they clear the screen in the drivers sight quickly in the event of "liquid obstruction"
The LHD cars have them parked on the other side for the same reason !

if you are feeling handy you can undo the wiper arms, rotate through 180 degrees and refix them to have them rest on the wrong side, out of your line of sight. no loss in function!
Damn, I thought that would wipe the bonnet clean.

Hang on - that will wipe the bonnet and mark it!!
Don't you also need to change the polarity of the contacts on the wiper motor to the reverse to make the wipers go the correct direction?
Yes that would wipe the bonnet - but there is a way of doing this very simply and *properly*...

That is correct, bit if it is raining then I could choose to 'park' them in the normal place instead. I haven't had a chance to try this when driving in the wet yet.
As for the p-car procedure, according to some rennlisters this is a majorly difficult thing to do, resulting in skinned knuckles, dents in the face and the loss of 3-5 hours. Hence my preference for the relay pull!

What beats me is why anypne would want to do this? In my car the wipers only obscure my view of the bonnet/scuttle which is hardly a concern.
Some people obviously have more time on their hands than you and I!!
Many is the times I wished I had some spare time but didn't (because I was spending too much time on Pistonheads!!)
