So... is it in all your posh Canons?

I've heard Nikon are doing one.(?)

Apologies if this has been done to death, I usually bypass Canon threads.

I have not watched the video but from what I read
(no direct experience), the Olympus Sensor cleaning system
is the only one of all the DSLR makers that is fairly effective.

Interesting! I wonder if it does really make the difference. The reference shot technique I know that Nikon (and others??) can do all ready - although I don't use Nikon software.

How do you hear that Nikon might come up with something sensor-wise? They're not exactly first at anything at the moment!

The person that sent me the link suggested it. Who knows, but one thing's for sure.... when they bring it out, I'll buy it. I bloody hate dust.

Ironically, at the moment it's only in the cheapest one, the 400D, but it'll be in the upcoming 1D mk3 too. I bet every model from now on will get it.

I have just bought the Panasonic DMC-L1 DSLR and this also has a self cleaning CCD I believe it has a small filter in front of the CCD and when you turn the came on it vibrates and removes all the dust from the filter, The good thing is that the dust doesn't reach the CCD in the first place so no damage can be caused. The Camera also comes packaged with a wonderfull Lieca Lens and I have to say The body is of fantastic build quality very retro styling and is similiar to an Analogue SLR but also has a LCD screen that alows you to monotor your subject before taking the picture. Very impressed so far..

I just recently picked up a Canon 400D a 2nd camera for the days where 1 just isn't enough to shoot with (i.e. so much going on that shooting yourself would fry your head), only used it once thus far so can't really comment on the effectiveness of the CCD self-cleaning system, but hopefully with the amount of use I give my cameras it shouldn't be too long before I can give a yay or nay to those pesky blobs on high F snaps...
