Hi,

I'm looking to go on a road trip in Europe around mid-April for a few days with a mate.

I'm looking for dry fast roads, scenic views with twisting mountainous roads and a destination with good bars and good looking tottie!

I thought I'd start in Germany and maybe go down to Switzerland, Italy or France.

Can anyone help?

Cheers

head off for a starting point in the Vosges mountains - on the border of France/Germany. excellent pass is the Col de la Schlucht. Nearest big town is Colmar - but we normally stay in the small villages, turn up on spec, excellent hospitality, and as the area is wine growing region, enjoyable evening to be found.

here you go.. try this and the rest of the web site:

- the red bits are what you want!!

Col de Ballon is a lovely sweeping road too - there's a petrol station at the bottom of it.

The Vosges is well worth a look - great scenery and super deserted roads.

Have a look over on the France forum for some more inspiration.

Must drive roads: N85 (route Napolean) & D2 (Col 'd Vence), conveniently they adjoin each other. South of France, near Nice

Try & fit in mount Ventoux in the south of france, Approaching from Bedoin its about 23 Km to the top & you rise to about 1900 Metres. very twistie but a fantastic surface as up until last year it was used for the tour de france. Its got a road up both sides so 2 routes to explore. Its used I believe for a hill climb once a years, Mercedes & BMW test a lot there & I believe a certain Eurohoon stopped by last year so a few Piston headers could also advise

Smiler.

You have to do the Route Napolean in S.France. Best road I've ever driven as its tight and twisty but still flowing enough to allow some fast driving.
Also, any of the Alpine passes - Stelvio, Fluela, Furka are all great.

Norway is fantastic, I been driving up there all week and it has been great; fairly quite roads, well surfaced and stunning scenery, unfortunately was in a hire car and not the Maserati, so not really able to fully enjoy it.

Just like this one where we stayed overnight on last years Furball

Your also right about the sunrise, well worth getting up for as it's breathtaking.
Not quite as exciting though as navigating the East face at 'some speed' in the pitch black with only your sat-nav to tell where the corners are!

Just a heads up, the op said mid April, so none of the major alpine passes will be open by then. Keep up to date on this link.

Plenty of lower good roads though in the alps.

You cant beat driving down to Monaco, it makes you feel great when you roll up in a nice ferrari or Lambo. Roads can get a bit boring though. But from there you can explore northern italy or Switzerland.
