Soory to hear about your diff mate.

I believe it is possible to add a LSD to a 5spd. A lot of people on here will recommend fitting a 6spd at the same time as the engine will be out anyway. Or possibly recon the original box with stronger internals!!

Although it all starts adding up.

Hope you get a good deal. Let me know how it goes money wish as I may wish to do it in the future myself.

Good luck.

Jack the car up and check for any play in the wheel!

Take the wheel off and put a socket on the center nut...it shoul be FT!(see www.GTO3.com for the exact figure) I suspect it's not this or you would have a long brake pedal as well.

Martin.

Mine is a 2.5, 5 speed and has a LSD.

Speak to Gary at Crazy Horses. It's an engine out job I'm afriad, plus the diff. Gary does them with his eyes shut It's still a big £ job though

I had my 12k GTO for 3 months and the dif went, best to take it to the garage (on a low loader) for them to find out, if you keep driving it then you need a new gearbox as the cost to refub is almost the same to buy a new one. Mine was a 2.5 and I paid to have the LSD fitted as it made little dif in the price. however it aint cheap 22hrs to remove the engine plus fitting plus parts.

I also had a major service done at ther same time and I think I paid 4K.

I had mine done along with strengthening the gearbox. I had the clutch done whilst he was at it (engine was out so why not) but not the 6spd.

Gary did the upgrade on my car from the 5 spd to the 6 spd Gearbox with the M400 gear linkage (Smoooth.....) ..

The six speed really does make a difference, although I'm expecting Obes will be along soon to call me a big girl. He being a real man with a 5 spd and an open diff. bow

Plans did the work. Clutch and a new gearbox was done at the same time.

Factory would be alot more expensive.
