rear screen replacement

I am going to have a go at replacing my rear screen until I can afford a whole new hood. I remember it being discussed on here not too long ago but the search keeps coming back with no matches.

Can anyone recommend a source /product to use as the screen?

Q: Is it split?

Y: Use sellotape weatherproof tape. Clean the plastic first with meths.
N: Use the Renovo plastic window polish - not tried it myself but other people have said it's good.

Yes it is split and also totally yellow/opaque. Really need a new hood, but just want something that is reasonably waterproof and I can see through for the moment. I haven't used the hood that much and it looks rubbish as it is.
Just waxoyled the chassis so happier about driving in the wet now

You would need to remove the hood and use an industrial sewing machine to do the job.. not really a DIY job unless you know a seamstress.


I'm sure some places have said it's £200 for a new window and £500 or so for a complete new hood..

I remember that thread were somebody replaced it themselves but i'm buggered if i can find it!! Took him ages with a needle and thread.

Try West Country Trimmers near you (Exeter) MikeyB had a complete roof fitted for £400 and it's the best job I've seen.

Hmmm, that seems a really good price. Might give them a call next week.

Still wish I could find that original post - the search on this site is frustrating sometimes.
