Advice needed, changing my water pump
Discussion
I need any advice on changing the Water Pump on my Chim 400. She's done 108,000 miles so with the bearing starting to make some noise its time to change it before she breaks. I have checked it and it is the water pump bearing, every thing else is fine.
Is it easy to do ? What should I look out for ? or should I just drop her into get it done by the professional's ?
Remember these pumps ain't cheap, over £190 from R Rover or over the £200 from TVR. TMS are getting me one for £161 plus vat so a small saving. Or does anyone do them cheaper ? She's a Serp engine '96 400.
Thanks in advance,
Colin L
Thanks Steve, the one from TMS will be the right one. But it would be nice if we could all find some parts that cost a lot less, but last just as long. Another thing for the wish list.
Besides being careful with tighting the bolts back on, is there anything else I should watch out for ?

Have a look at this, I changed mine last year, Its a fairly easy job. Got my water pump from rpiv8, cost about £90, It is just a range rover part!!!

That price is better, and it is a genuine Rover parts on the Rimmer site that I can see. Will give them a call on Wednesday to see if they can supply.
Thanks for the help will let you all know what happens.
Its a pity Moss have not done their parts cat, would be interesting to see what they have to offer ?

Well they don't look like twins now, do they Mark? - unless they're recently separated Siamese twins. Sorry sick joke!
Colin - get that water pump in double quick so you can join Patrick's magical mystery tour on Saturday and bring Mark with you so he doesn't lose the TVR addiction.

Water Pump came today, cost £114 including vat & postage, got it from RPIV8. Take the old pump of in the morning, fit the new one Friday morning.
I also found that the Power Steering fluid pipes where leaking, so I have to change them as well. What a pig of job that this.
But it will be worth it in the end. Roll on Saturday afternoon and the lovely sound of a V8 starting up.
PS: No run on Sat, Patricks on Holiday!!!
