Hi all, I dont really know how many of us have Diesels in the forum. But I have one and just thought I'd share my experiences with the car so far. :Warning: it is quite long! I wrote it for a thread on mini2.com.

So... Just before Christmas I traded my first car which was an 04 plate Citroen C2 1.4Hdi SX (what a mouthfull) for a shiny 5 month old 06 plate One D. The Citroen was my first car that I'd owned, and I had driven it since I passed my test. (I am 19) while it was a nice car, after about 2 years I got a little bored with it and I'd had some rather annoying problems with it, such as needing a new ECU, alternator and entire passenger seat. Thanfully covered under warranty, but it was time to move on. Just a quick pic of the C2...

Enter the MINI....

I had wanted a MINI right from the beginning, but it simply wasn't possible and my parents were kind enough to lend me the cash for the C2, which I had paid back, so once again they agreed to put up £8k so that I could buy the MINI. The car I had chosen was an Astro Black One D, which had been specced to the nines by a woman who had become pregnant and needed to change to a bigger car after only 5months, stoke of luck on my part! It only had 6000 miles on the clock and it hadn't even had the plastic protector film taken of the door sills. So i traded in the C2 for £5500 and put £8,000 cash for the rest. It might seem an expensive car for someone who is young, but I assure you I am paying for it myself, not my parents! Something which people dont seem to understand! I also intend to keep this car for a long time For those who are interested the spec is:

Cloth/Leather Octagon Black
Sports seats front
TLC active from 10/05/2006 to 09/05/2011
Remote control alarm
Darkened Glass
Harmon Kardon
Pepper pack
Zip decal on roof
17" R99 polished double spoke alloys

Waiting for the car was the worst part, I had to wait for 2 weeks while they fixed a kerbing mark on one of the wheels, taxed it, and then for the cheque to clear!

So - this is what I've got to say about it 2 1/2 months later!

I'm still really happy with the car, its so much fun to drive and makes me grin every time I drive it. For those who discount the fact that it's a diesel, it isn't that bad! Fair enough the 0-60 isn't mesmerising, but in gear it can keep up with most day to day cars and 50 - 75 its quicker than its fellow 1.6 COOPER variant.
It's abit heavier on fuel than my previous Citroen was, so far the trip computer is reading out an average 48mpg. Not bad, but not great, mind you I do have the foot down on regular occasions. On the motorway it averages about 55 - 60.
Apart from £135 for a new tyre nothing has gone wrong, allthough I have noticed a slight dash rattle from one of the air vents, so when it goes in for its oil service I'll get it looked at.

Think thats about it really!

All thats left is a few pics of him.

James.

Mods - sorry about all the photos - I couldnt get clickable thumbnails to work with the PH code? If possible then feel free to change!

Made my first mod today - changed the bulbs in the headlights - used the Halfords 'super brilliance' ones as they were on offer (buy one get one free). So in theory the dipped and main beam should be greatly improved now. Will try them out when I take my bro into town later and report back! Anyone else done this?

UPDATE:

Just cheking in to say that the lights are much better now - well worth doing if anyone is thinking about it!
