Living in London I wouldn't expect 911s to exactly be rare but its getting bloody ridiculous....

There's now two other 911s (997C2S and 996C4S) (and a Boxster) on my street. Within three streets away I've counted at least six others (mainly 996s and 997s but a couple of 993s and a 944). In my office building car park there's now four 997s (one Turbo).

This morning driving to work at 6.15am (thanks Ken...) I ended up in a four Porsche convoy (non-S 997, 996 Targa, me and a Boxster). Last night driving home saw a 997GT3, a 993 Turbo S and an identical 997C2S to mine. Stand on any central London street nowadays and you're guaranteed to see a Porsche of somekind within 5 minutes...!

So please please please can you all stop buying Porsches..!! Its been a boyhood dream to own one and now it feels about as special as a Mondeo..!

Thanks - Erik.

Mondeo??.....dont make me come down and start a rukus!!!!

You lot down in London just have too much money.....and expensive houses.
I'd love to see loads of Porsches up in my area (east yorkshire) but they are like rocking horse dodo.

Me thinks you really like spotting them.....I would.

Hope you still enjoy your ride.

Know what you mean. There are only 14 houses in the mews where I live and 4 (including me) have 996's.

I've lost count of times I've followed/been followed by another Porsche, and, more often than not, a 911 of some variety.

The other night I was picking up my fiance and was still a couple of minutes away when she phoned to ask why I'd just driven past her!

At least there's plenty of varieties to keep us trainspottery types amused...

After a quick peek at your profile, I think I may be one of them. Blackwall Tunnel on Saturday night?

Must be quite a dawn chorus, assuming everyone drives to work! Down here in Sarf London, if we see any Pork its usually on the A23 hurrying out of town. Used to be an X-reg 996 on my street (no mews round 'ere) but i reckon its moved on, cos I haven't seen it for months. I think the more Porsches on one street the the better: 'hood's moving on up!

the 911 common as muck in Soho although there's a very tasty blonde who hoofs her metallic grey 9974S round Soho square every morning so it's not all bad

I was in Oslo (in a Basalt Black Micra!) at the time so not me! I don't normally drive into work but have been this week as I've had a spanking new 997C4S on loan from the OPC whilst they sorted my car.

Well there's another black 996 with sports pipes and Aerokit driving around London then. I'm pretty sure you'll hear it soon...

And on the subject of convoys, I drove through Swiss Cottage the other morning alongside a beautiful orange 911 from circa 73. It made my 997 look huge. And sound very dull.

IMO the more the better, ok so it loses a bit of exclusivity but it means it's less conspicuous to vandals, thieves etc

Geez now that takes the biscuit!

I'd love to live near to so many like minded people!

As it is, I have to live next to two psychos who drive a 1996 Discovery and a 1998 Astra diesel Estate - both leak oil onto the shared access block paved drive, and leave them blocking it a lot!!

You know that scene in the deerhunter with the duelling banjos?

Frankly they lower the tone of the area - at least in your locality you have some people with obvious taste!!!!

Sorry edited for spelling!!!

And before you say it I don't think the neighbours are at all literate!!

Belting up Fulham Palace Road at 4mph last night I was in a four car 996 queue, all following a really neat lamborghini gallardo. No one even blinked at the porsches, time to get a lambo?
