Just got back from the OPD.
Basically went to start my 997 CS this morning and the battery was dead.Spoke to Porsche assist who called the RAC,who then took 2 1/2 hours to get to me!rolleyes
His assesment was that one of the cells had collapsed.Fine I thought, after everyday usage for 13000 miles Porsche will have no problem giving me one FOC.
Unfortunately not...
I then spoke to Porsche GB to explain the situation who said they would call back..that was 2 hours ago..
Is it me?
Why should a battery last such a short time?
It is not the money, more the principal of good customer care.

If you push them hard enough they may sort it.....ring them and say "you mean you are willing to let a duff battery get between me ever buying a car off you again".

Good luck, and don't let it raise your blood pressure too much...after all it's a cheap enough fix and you can move on.

Next time you look at a new porsche and agree a price say to them "knock an extra £200 off for the hassle of my last car and it's a deal"

One way or another you will get it back.

I think that you're overreacting a tad. It's a bit tight of them but no big deal really IMO.

From your profile it looks like the car is a 2004 car. Two & a half to three years down the line to have to change a battery isn`t totally out of the question. If you`ve bought the car new then I`d have thought your dealer might lend a bit of a hand as a good will gesture.

Obviously if a battery goes flat at any stage then it will reduce the potential life. Similarly lots of little journeys with lots of starting and not much time charging will also make the battery work for it`s living (and 13,000 miles in two and a half years of everyday driving does look a bit like that).

Good luck.

I recently bought a second hand Renault Vel Satis (don't laugh, its great for towing) from my local dealer. 3 years old 8000 miles, the battery went a couple of weeks after purchase. Even though they were under no obligation, they replaced it free of charge without prompting. Some dealers don't deserve the franchise they have.

The car is a 2005.
I bought the car from someone else and it had 450 miles on it.I have since then done 12500 in a year.
I agree it is a small thing in the grand scheme, but still annoying...but hey ho!!

Have a decent weekend

Cheers

Err, bought a new battery from the local motor factors for the ex's Polo a few years ago and it came with a 3 year warrenty. I would have expected a Porsche one to have had at least that.

FWIW my '98 Boxster seems to be on it's original still looking at it and all the old receipts not showing the purchase of a new one.

You telling me porsche are even questioning giving you a new one?, I will never buy another porsche if thats the case. Any of my cars need a battery after such a short time (whilst under warantee)I would expect emediate replacement no questions.

I am afraid it is the case.
I managed to break the clutch out of warranty on my M3 going round Castle Coombe. The boys at BMW argued my case and got BMW to do it for free.It made me feel happy as customer and the next company car I bought was a BMW 320d.
I am a little pissed with Porsche to say the least.I would never have asked for a new one if it was laid up all the time but i use it pretty much every day.
It appears you have to replace the battery on the 997`S BEFORE any tyres!!

How mad is that silly
