I've just spent an hour, or two paperbag, cleaning my rims with wheel cleaner and elbow grease. This is not a good way to spend time, although it was oddly therapeutic. What can I put on the now sparkling alloy to make brake dust and road grime easy to remove in future?

I use wheel guard from Chemical Guys. Smells good enough to eat, and does a really good job of protecting the wheels. You don't need to use anything but your car shampoo to clean them, but just make sure you put it on thinly. thumbup

The dedicated wheel waxes and sealant are good, but aren't cheap, especially if that's the only thing you're ordering.

You won't go far wrong with Autoglym SRP and EGP from your local motor factors.

If they are painted alloys with a clear coat then just use the same wax as you do on the paintwork.
There are loads of wheel waxes out there but if I use any its RimWax.

Or Klasse AIO/SG if you have it, these combos tend to last as long if not longer than wheel wax products too.
