This will sound a little silly I know but regardless of the speed that I ride through a front facing camera near me it never goes off..

It started as an experiment to see at what point it would trigger but even at 90 (km/h) it still doesn't flash..

Why?

I believe it does, but the flash is at a wavelength we can't see.

Infrared...

It doesn't want you knowing you were speeding at the time...

Much better to tell you several days later...

If it's a Truvelo, then I believe it will visibly flash in a magenta hue if active - see 4th bullet point on this webpage www.truvelouk.com/installationmains.phtml. Supposed to dazzle less, though the site I got the pic below off reckons they're infra-red! Chances are though, it's an empty box - take a closer look and see if there's a camera lens behind the smaller aperture.

If SPECS, then uses Infra-red to read your number plate between 2 points but no flash.

If its trevelo or trevalo ( not sure on spelling despite it being in the pic above and I cannot bother to go back on my browser) then when it goes off its a very visible flash that your eyes will feel ( especially at night it actually hurts) and it is red/magenta.

When did you start this experiment? Might be some NIP's heading your way.

If its a gatso then you will be fine, they cannot get you from the front.

Truvelo or Specs are a different story

OP said he "rides" through.
I'm thinking biker.
No front number plate to read.

I've got an idea why not start an offshore car registration agency to swerve the fines? laugh

Magistrate pal of mine insists a woman was done by the same gatso in both directions a few months ago.

He was unaware that gatsos don't have type approval for oncoming pics.

Woman was convicted.

Exactly!!! No I've not been done, the first experiment was at over 170 units last summer, just had further funding to continue my work this summer...

Some cameras definitely flash. I have also tested whilst riding.

Three examples I know of are on A21 just before Tunbridge Wells (RTW), driving into RTW (at Southboro), and then on the A26 out of RTW. I used to test all 3 of them on my way home from work - whilst making signs at them, and they always flashed. Stopped doing my signs, and slowed down after a while in case the images were viewed and "heaven forbid" they may put some trafpol just after 1 of the scameras!

(edited - as I could not count the number of examples!)
