As it has been p*ssistently raining for about the last month, I doubt if any ban will be blamed on a drought! However, I think that most of the camp site taps have been adapted to prevent hoses being attached as every litre has to be paid for here - there is no such thing as un-metered water in France and I suspect the ACO's water bill has just been getting too big for comfort. The drought was no myth but I think it was an excuse to bring controls in. Could be wrong of course...
Well, I was at lunch with some of the ACO directors two years back and the actual comment - mostly about the Germans - was " I don't mind us paying for their drinking water but if they want to bring pools then they'll pay for water from now on". This week here at Le Mans it hasn't stopped raining and all the fields are full of puddles so there is no water shortage, but - even if you can attach a hose to fill them - the water in the camping sites will cost you dear! The ACO are becoming so money minded that even the marshals are suffering despite the fact that it is their time they give freely to make the event happen. Did you know that it takes 1,400 marshals to run the 24 hours? Even the posters this year are no longer available to the marshals and they have to pay if they want one. Don't expect any favours from now on - you'll pay for everything no matter what. You know of course that this year the tickets no longer give the right to enter the paddock. To recap, no there isn't a water shortage here but that - for the ACO - is no longer the point.
As the paddock is presently a building site, it's difficult to see how the access will work but I suspect that the thing is that the new paddock will be entirely seperate from the pit area. There is a new viewing area across the paddock at the bottom of the village, but that may be the best we see of it now.

Is this true? I must have missed this?? Does this rule out the Friday afternoon pit lane stroll? Where's Piglet when you need her...
Drinking beer as one should be on a Saturday night
I didn't think we got Paddock access on a GA ticket anyway? Deff not to the 24 hour Paddock. Or am I missing something?
Other than Friday of course...

I too have been puzzling over this, Piglet. I can never remember being able to get into the paddock during the race except with a Pits Grandstand ticket when it was the only way to get to your seat.
Good I'm glad it's not just me! Even with a Pits GS ticket I think the fencing is configured so that you can get to the steps but not turn right or left into the main Paddocks isn't it?
