O.K am thinking of buying this porsche - so far it seems lik it might need a new clutch and heat plate on exhaust sorting.

It has crossed my mind that when it was started up there was quite a lot of smoke from the exhaust - again was told it was normal - any comments appreciated.

Some smoke from the exhaust on cold start up is normal. It is a trait of the flat cylinder configuration.

can you confirm the smoke is ONLY at start-up?

Make sure it's smoke , not steam!! , and it clears quickly after start.

Check the coolant cap/tank and the oil cap for gunk/custard.
(Tiny residues of gunk .. say bout a teaspoonful , are to be expected at the oil cap , but the coolant should be completely clear.)

Yep, I'd get worried if there was NO smoke at starting the engine

might be in the wrong car...frightning...
