ST200 -any good?

Depends what you are comparing them to.
The wife has the estate version, only 155 ever registered in this country. 4 door version there about 500 and 5 door I've no idea but are more commonly available in any colour you want as long as you like Ford Racing Blue unless you get an ex-BIB car which will be white.
The wife's car has done 140k miles, 96k driven by me and the rest by the wife. New clutch at 135k miles and that's been about it other than a replacement alternator when the car was 6 months old. Plus standard servicing, parts and consumables (brake pads/discs tyres etc).
When it was re-mapped last summer it was putting out 214bhp before the re-map....

For the money, recommended. Quick, well spec'ed and a rather tasty V6 rumble when entering warp drive
Problems with mine so far have been air con condenser and then normal wear and tear. Touch wood it'll stay like that!
I do maybe 40 miles a day commuting along country A/B-roads and get just over 30mpg. On top of that is the usual short runs like shopping trips - so its a figure I am happy with.
Topped it out in the mid to high 30's when on a very long run (ie Cambridgeshire to North coast of Scotland) but travelling at 56mph behind other cars for the length of the country is about as economical as you can ask for.
Having said that, there is the occasional week when I just don't look at the trip computer - when I'm scared single figures must be beckoning
Podie looking at your blog, have you driven one without the uprated disks? Have any of the other brake components been changed and how much difference has it made? If I had to find something to fault about mine, I'd say the brakes could have been beefier as standard.

Nail it in second and watch the "current economy" figure dive into single figures... Typically in a week I do 10x ~20 mile trips and 2x 120 mile trips. When it's warmed up, I do use the rev range, and I still return around 30mpg.
That said, when we first got it, the missus drove it (I had the bosses 2.2D X-type)... she got 36mpg out of it... the diesel Jag returned 34....
When we went to test drive it, I wanted to make sure that the missus didn't mind driving it. She was prepared to do the "it's OK" thing... but didn't give the keys back
I paid silly money for mine (£3650 @ 51k)... there are some bargains out there.

Ah, my commute is about 36 miles each way with about 1/2 on the motorway and the other 1/2 a mix of town and NSL single carriageway. I average something like 36 mpg (or therabouts) in a 1.8 zetec so the st200's commuting fuel consumption will probably not be too much of a shock to me. Obviously for more spirited social driving this will be less of a concern
I know its an unorthadox view on PH but I like Mondeo's, they're reliable, relatively cheap to run and easily swallow up 5 passengers with their luggage in reasonable comfort. Just want something with a little more go to liven things up and some accelleration to accomodate the odd bit of overtaking here and there and I think the ST will probably fit the bill!
