Electric Niggles

Having a few electric niggles at the moment, nothing serious but all part of TVR ownership I suppose :-)

Can't select fully dipped headlights at the moment, only dipped and main beam. Have changed the fuse but still no joy.

Also, wipers sometimes don't work and only a beep on the horn gets them working again.

The battery is quite low after a winter of low miles so could that be the problem ? I have left the car on trickle charge today to see if it makes a difference.

Any advice would be welcome.

The ribbon cable inside the steering wheel is breaking where it goes into the steering shaft.

How easy it to access, remove and then source a replacement ?

Pretty easy to access, the replacement is a whooping £30 for what is just a ribbon cable with two fancy ends on.

Its wrapped round the stem like toilet paper with enough slack to rotate the wheel several hundred times, for what reason I don't know. The damage will almost certainly be where the cable is forced to do a 90 deg bend clemped onto the head.

If you are nimble you will carefully remove the clamp connector from the damaged end, cut a bit back and then reconnect the cable.

Job Done.
