I went down to Poole for the bank holiday weekend and found that the gear change, particularly out of 3rd, was sticking.

Has anyone had the same problem and what did it turn out to be?

Is your car due a service? I did read somewhere that new oil can do wonders for selection.

Have you checked the fluid level in the master cylinder?

It had a service 3K miles ago so shouldn't need a change of oil just yet?

How would I go about checking the fluid level in the master cylinder (is there anything in the bible - I'll have a look)? Bit of a non-mechinc I'm afraid - hence the first thing I did was to buy the bible!

Cheers, Mat.

Mine does it and I've certainly read about it on this site before on more than one occasion ....

My car has a T5 box and is most prone to a slight 'sticking' in terms of gear change feel when changing out of 3rd especially when hot. New oil can help apparently but didn't cure mine ... A 'feature' I believe?

Mines the Borg Warner T5 gearbox as well. Hopefully someone knows how to improve this 'feature'!

5th seems to be slightly more "sticky" on ours when very hot but not difficult to engage - but ours is due a service within the next few hundred miles.
