Just sold the 6series - www.pistonheads.com/sales/118164.htm and before it went the buyer wanted BMW to check over it and they said it was ok BUT needed a brake fluid and microfilter service - i gave the go ahead and this totalled to £238, the parts used totalled to £34 so i assume the rest of the fee was down to labour costs - Question now is with me ready to take the plunge on a 996, What are the OPC hourly labour rates as they do a fixed menu servicing so the prices cant be regional like with some Notorious Mercedes Dealers in London charging £140 an hour when my wifes E-Class gets done for £92 an hour in Glasgow.

No they are not regional any more, they all charge exorbitant prices, £105 ph or some close figure.

Why would you go to an OPC with a 996? I presume it's a few years old and therefore find a good independent garage that usually charge between £40 and £60 per hour. Also, within that hour they will tend to do much more work so in real terms it's even less per hour

Fixed price menu servicing is your friend.

www.porsche.com/filestore.aspx/default.pdf?pool=uk&type=download&id=porscheservice-servicepricing-type996&lang=none&filetype=default

These include VAT.

You get 10% off for PCGB membership, so a standard 12k service comes in at £290 all in including Mobil 1, parts and VAT.

I've never had any issues with OPC servicing, indeed they have regularly gone well beyond the call of duty. See my profile for details.

You can usually negotiate a discount on OPC rates for "older" cars. I still prefer to use my indie though...

In the handbook which doesn't help you much, sorry. I'll scan it tonight.

Its ok cheers I'll check mine.. Just was gong to have a look now if available, Thanks though.

Just booked mine in for service on 12/03. And just checked, warranty expires on 11/03. Think I'll see if they can book me in a bit earlier, just in case!

I'll be expecting that one. I got the pads done 6000 miles ago. So they're not landing me with that.

Have to say for a few yr old 996, depending on yr location, the independants
would be a more suitable financial option? Some OPC's aren't that good, you have to keep ontop of them.

That sounds exhorbitant to me. The microfilter I presume fits under a compartment under the bonnet, much like opening the fusebox, so could amount to 5 minutes if you include going to the parts counter to get it. Most I've been quoted by a BMW dealer for a fluid change is £70 (that may be plus VAT), about the same as an OPC.

Too late now I guess......
