I'd say that the 4 tyres are in the region of £800
and the service about £500 for them to replace al lthe useless sundries they normally do, plus expensive oil and flush and stuff, plus 3 hours labour cos the engines in the middle.

£1,300?

edit: I thought that they had just advised you about the discs... If they're included then we're well into 2 grand territory.

Are you going to surprise us by telling us you got the lot for £4.27 and a Jammie Dodger?

i am at pains right now and flabbergasted at the cost

say for example i couldnt afford it and had no funds , if i told them i cant afford it, what would they do?

also, i am picking up car tomorrow, am i in position to ask for a substantial discount?

Well, those are the fixed price costs off the Porsche website! The only additional cost could be a Brake Fluid change for £113.

Intrigued if they've charged you more!

Menu price servicing, mate. It's your friend.

The secret is you tell them you want the menu service for the menu price, and nothing else. Then endorse the consent form with that statement.

www.porsche.com/filestore.aspx/def

You agree what work they are going to do BEFORE you let them loose, otherwise they go to town and you get billed accordingly.

I asked three different OPC for quote for my 996 48k service for tomorrow. My usual dealer quoted me £700 minus 10% for PCBG membership - and that includes a belt change and a new fuel filter.

Others tried it on, telling me I needed new plugs (I don't), brake fluid (I don't), tiptronic transmission fluid change (I don't), pads (I don't they were done at OPC 5000 miles ago....) So the quotes ended up between under £700 and above £2000.......

You've been turned over mate, but you need to be clear upfront about what you want and more importantly about what you DON'T. Don't just happily toss them the keys and sign the form allowing them to do whatever work they want to the car without ringing you first for consent. That's tantamount to walking into Wormwood Scrubs with a miniskirt and no knickers.

£3000. Here's how I worked it out. OPC will have a target of relieving customers of about £1500 add another £1500 for tyres and brakes.

I'm right aren't I?

They should not have carried out the work without consent. Surely, they contacted you to advise you of what was required/ Surely, you asked them to confirm a cost first?

Sorry, don't have that but figures are broadly the same. If I can find one I'll scan it and post it.

Sounds like you have had a 12k plus plugs and brake fluid. Did you actually need the plugs and brake fluid??

Tyres are fair enough, although Bracknell Tyres much cheaper.

Pads and discs are a regular recommendation. I have done 20,000 miles since an OPC (not my usual) told me my discs were shot to sh1t. My regular OPC looked at them and told me they were fine last week. Go figure.

Man. Nightmare.

The bills for the services the (rich) guy who had the car before me had done (around every 5000 miles.....) were all £2000+. Plugs every time, discs and pads every time, brake fluid every time....

MAN they made SO much money off him...!!!

Mine are all around the £600 mark..... save for the tyres and pads (once in 30,000 miles...)
