tvr chimaera 400 V8
Discussion
TVR has been garaged for 4 months. Battery went flat. Have tried to jump start from another vehicle. Won't start although the engine turns over. Problems with doors locking intermitantly, fuel gauge now not working (there is fuel in the tank!).
With the distributor cap removed and the engine turning, there is a spark from the centre brush to spark plug poles.
Someone has suggested the ECU is shutting down and requires a special module to be plugged in. Any ideas???

If you haven't already done it, the battery needs charging or replacing. Bringing the voltage up by connecting jump leads without charging the battery will likely upset the alarm and/or immobiliser. Similarly, charging the battery whilst it's connected: for this reason you should charge the battery with it disconnected from the car.
The ECU should not need to be reset. Even if it has recorded a string of faults and gone into 'limp home' mode the engine should start. But by disconnecting the battery as above it would reset anyway.
