Why was this thread locked - don't see anything in there to cause any offence to anyone? Censorship gone mad or am I missing something obvious - use of the word pants for example?

Anyway I'd just like to add that yes the standard diff as fitted is pants because as people have said the fluid mix aint great and secondly the gear ratio is wrong. 3.7 or 3.9 would have been better as standard - not often people get the chance to drive over 150mph so we could have sacrificed top end for faster acceleration - imho.

I am guessing it breached advertising on here.
I have to remove non-sponsor ads where I normally live, thats the way of the world!

Couldn't it have continued unlocked but with any offending things removed and a quick note as to why slotted in place?

Diff technics do like a 9" f**d housing for the holden. And Kaaz do some beefier stuff too.
Lots ok options. BMR in the US make billet 300M parts too. Mega $$ but strong.

My posting was blocked because it broke some advertising rule, but if you need to contact John then try someone on the Dunlop Tuscan Challenge forum as John runs the race series.

The Kazz diff is great but expensive you can get them shipped from OZ but that just adds to the price I tried to buy one from the UK agent but unless it was for some Jap 4 cylinder kev car they just were not interested! The reasuring thing is that when I had one as hand luggage I got stopped at security at every airport from Brisbane.

The standard cone unit used in the Monaro diffs is good as stated if you use the correct oil. The problem can be if you use too much friction modifier the you loose the friction needed to make the unit work, the balance of oil to modifier is critical.

If you have used the wrong oil and have now polished the cones the they can be recovered with a light shot plasting. John also makes them stiffer by shimming up the springs a little. DOME used to use stiffer springs on the version of the diff used by TVR.

As stated the Harrop unit uses aftermarket Ford 9" gears this is great as there are any number of ratios and diff types available but these aftermarket gears are milled so are probably no stronger than the Hobbed 8" gear that is fitted as standard.

Lets hope my attempt at inparting my experience is not seen as advertising

Advertising - looked like it was the pants remark from what I read.

A little heavy handed IMO. Am sure being a mod is a thankless task though.....

I agree it must be difficult to differentiate sometimes from those who try to impart the information they have to the benefit of others and those who have an agenda to sell something.

PS:- Hollinger also make a 9" diff but the I did not like the design, with three casing parts meeting at one point around the axle shaft I think the creep in the parts at this point may lead to oil leeks or other operational issues.
