Thinking about buying this from real steel, anyone used this with good results?

They claim up to 26bhp

Cheers

Over a land rover standard cam .. but not 26bhp more that a TVR supplied cam .. I would bet.

THis site gives some good comparisions :
www.btinternet.com/~jon.wolfe/kentcamdata.htm

V8 Developments would be excellent too..

On a similar theme can any one explain what the cam numbers mean eg H202 or H404?

H=Hydraulic tappets
Number=usually the higher the number the wilder the cam, but not always hehe
Good old fashion grinds for the RV8 like the 218 is actually tamer than the 214 (btw the 218 is a very good general performance cam particularly if fitted with slightly modified timing from that specified ). TVR used 4** in their designations with the TVR453 being one of their wilder but not so good (imho) grinds. The old wedges mainly used 214 or 234 Piper grinds.

Bottom line the only true way to tell how wild a cam is is to know what the actual profile is (lift timing duration). A problem with that is not all Cam designers are going to tell you what the profile is for a special and rightly so. Most seem to have names for cams like stealth and have gone away from.
If you want a good and honest opinion of cams speak to V8D (Ray/Shawn/Rob), I know they do their own grinds but they will quiet happily fit an off the shelf Kent/Piper grind if you want too.

Ah, thanks for the info. Any idea what cam would have been fitted by TVR to my 4 litre in 1993? It's not an HC.
Its still on the original at 87000+ so it will be interesting to see what it looks like when I hoik it out.
