While doing my daily 996 search, i came across this half-breed 996? It seems that a vain or adventerous customer thought it was a good idea to give his pre-face-lift car a 2002 face-lift, and whats worse is that it looks like Porsche did it themselves - Quote = ANYWAY,THIS IS A LITTLE SPECIAL AS THE CAR HAS THE FRONT AND REAR BODY CONVERSION KIT,COMPLETED BY PORSCHE.

Am i the only one that finds this strange? Did they also give the engine 320bhp and the rest of the facelift changes?? I remember Khan i think, were charging people with the old Mercedes SL a few grand to give there car the new bonnet/front? Surely this has to be a mistake and would it not effect the cars value??

each to their own - I would guess it had a front end incident and it didnt cost anymore to put a facelift front rather than the original on...

It's been done to a good few cars, I believe there was a company offering all the parts from memory.

Depends how well it has been done I suspect, if it is a highish mileage or lhd then i don't think it would affect the price at all, but if a low mileage garage queen then I expect it will take a hit, pretty much the same as the 997/996 half breed that was done a while ago.

I just sold a very similar car yesterday. 2001Y C2 Tip Cab, black with black. I sold it to the last owner in summer 2004 - it was very nice but quite stone chippy so he got it facelifted at Jasmine Porschalink who did a very nice job - front & rear bumpers & headlights. The sticker under the bonnet is a good sign it's never had a new one, of course. The car looked great with his private plate and I can entirely see why he did it. Total cost was around £2500 I think (although Jasmine kept his old parts).

Forgotten about that ... can't seem to find it on the search - does anyone have the link to that thread?

Reading that advert and another thread about someone wishing to strike out as a dealer, I can't help wondering that it must be really easy.

I've read loads of "professional" adverts -- though most are better than the gibberish this dealer has produced -- and often found that my seven year old daughter could have produced something more advanced.

Throughout my life I've usually found that a person's intelligence is proportional to their command of the English language and its rules so I'm putting car dealers down quite low.

Maybe the IT guy should indeed branch out. Especially if the imbecile who's advert is linked to in this advert is able to make a living out of it.
