Does anyone know who mapped the original 2.5 ECU, I herd Ray West?
Mine sort of passed the MOT on emissions and I will need to make it better for next year, Gadge believes Ray can map anything.
As my Original ECU is still going after 22k I would prefer to map it with upgraded fuel pump and if required overboost controller and an adjustment to the power to absorbe the rich running.

I thought JNM do an ECU upgrade using an OMEX 600 series for the 2.5

I thought JNM do an ECU upgrade using an OMEX 600 series for the 2.5
They do but its about 3k, I have noticed on their site that they do a piggie back ECU that changes the output from your std ECU. I have asked if this will work on mine.

Any idea when you maybe able to estimate cost (for worst case with Loom).
If this was done would I need the overboost controller set up that we spoke about before or would we just map the ECU to use the richness of the car for a bit more power.

the problem with the MBE ECU is a lack of i/o so everything is a compromise. There are lots of better ECU's out there but changing the loom is the issue, an interface converter/adaptor would not be the most elegant solution nor would it offer a better solution than the MBE.
When i get round to it i'm going to use an OMEX 710 with proper idle control, traction, flat shift and launch.

If you have been upgraded to a MBE ECU you will find one of the sensors has been disconected from the innlet manifold as it is not required, also mine has a large MBE ID tag on the loom under the P/steering resivoir.
You can see the plug disconnected in this image just to the right of the throttle body.

Bondy - if we went aftermarket we can ditch your current boost controller and map the boost any way you liked - however your car still has a bit more to give and i reckon a good rolling road tune up could get you the horses you are after - i estimate about 200/300 quid to get your car running sweet
I can't give firm prices on a replacement ecu fitted and mapped just yet, but the price will depend on how sexy an ecu you want. some aftermalket ecu's are a cheap as £600 retail and some are £1200 retail with all the bells and whistles.
if the car was run on batched injection (great for flames from the exhaust !) - i could get away with fitting an ecu that was only designed for a 4 cylinder car and i can give you closed loop lambda (good fuel economy) and closed loop boost control also
I'm working on some replacement looms - the idea is to keep the install cost down by making it a plug and play fitment
