clutch bleeding
Discussion
hi
i have had my Cerbera a while now, it has always had a slightly tough gear change but once its been driven a while its fine. i didnt use it for just over a week and then went to go out for the evening and once i turned the rngine on i couldnt get it into any gear and would just grind when trying to select reverse.
i was told that it was likely that i had air in the clutch and would need to bleed it. as im not much on a machanic i took it to a garage and they said they could try and squeeze a quick look if i left it with them. they never managed to figure anythign out there and then and said it will take longer than they first thought. they are not a TVR garage but they used to work on my supra so i trust them.
i just want to know a few things before i take it back in on thurs.
1. how easy is it to bleed the clutch? (they said somethign about internal or external and im not sure about that sorta stuff)
2. what is it like to change the starter motor? as mine is startint to play up more now.
thanks for any help you can give

I bled mine - really easy but 2 people needed unless you have a funky auto bleeder thingy. Just take off the panel under the windscreen and you should see a braided hose cable tied up there somewhere with a bleed nipple on it. The reservior is on the drivers wing under a siliconed-in panel, again under the panel. Take off the clutch reservior cap and make sure its topped up. Then with someone pushing down on the pedal slowly open the bleed nipple to get the air out and then close up. Repeat a couple of times and keep toppnig the reservoir up. Careful no fluid goes on the paint tho........its nasty stuff......

I had the same problem with my clutch - got the AA out to bleed it and its been fine since. That was 6 months ago so it doesnt always mean that the cylinders or clutch are on their way out.
Same here... clutch failed. No fluid, so I filled and bled the system and have had no problems since, although I have not had the car out a lot over the winter.
BUT... as it failed once, I am paranoid that it will go again at a less convenient time. Where did the fluid go last time, and why? I now check the fluid regularly which is a pain in the ar$e itself, but will probably end up fitting a new upgrade slave (the Race proved one from Clevor Trevor) just for piece of mind!

it went in first thing this morning and i got a call to say that unfortunatly it isnt just the clutch that needs bleeding, it is the slave cylinder that has gone. so i will be calling the AA out to get it taken to david hendry in malmsbury. i am gonna get the slave cylinder done and the starter motor at the same time. apparently there is an uprated starter motor that they have said stands better against the heat. so i thought i would give that a go to. lets see what happens shall we...
