Having a Black and White Day

Just noodling around, and feel like having a bit of a Black and White Day sparked by the "walk" thread, for example:







Trying different tints and conversions.

Isn't B&W great?

I think that the first 2 are a bit warm - i like the effect, but it is a little too much...

I'm inclined to agree (looks different when printed of course) - in this case the subject doesn't need to be too warm.

Those were done using one of Russell Brown's techniques (search for him on Adobe) - easy when you know how but all a bit fiddly. Best bit is you can go back in and tweak hue and saturation of the layer (which is what I did, pumping up the saturation and making them a little more red than the basic) so it's easy to step back when you realise you've gone too far!

I won't tweak and edit these so that others can see...
