My 1 year warranty will be up for renewal/extension shortly
and just wondered if someone has done the same...

What are the prices and are the dealers confident the parts/work
can be carried out under the current climate !

Good question, mine is up in June so need to get on to this. Enquired at Hexham HC and they said the TVR wear and tear is about £1300. They have fixed my problems this year no problem.

Thouroughly recommend Autoprotect.

Cheaper, never quibbled and prepared to haggle on price if you take a 2 year deal (as I did and will again next year).

I'd be interested in that as well, mine's up in September.

Hasn't their warranty got a maximum claim limit though? I'm fairly sure the TVR approved warranty was the only one that was likely to pay for a full engine rebuild for instance!

Autoprotect just paid out for well over £1500 of work on my car (full clutch, bushes, some other bits) without quibbling. They do cover the engine rebuild. I just read the policy doc again - no mention of a maximum claim amount.

Edited to say: Autoprotect IS the TVR Approved Warranty (not that TVR Approval is worth Jack Sh1t these days).

So basically the Autoprotect one is exactly the same as the TVR one but without the TVR name attached, and therefore cheaper?
Can you remember how much it was?

I bought mine from a TVR dealer, it comes in a TVR warranty 'folder' but the paperwork says Autoprotect. £1350ish Inc VAT, but you need a few hours inspection before taking it out (to check things are not duff at start of the warranty period). Considering the price of a BMW M warranty and the £0 excess on the TVR/Autoprotect warranty I'm happy with the cost.

The (extended) warranty on my T350T expired in January and I made a few enquiries. Based on a posting by Steve350 on this site i contacted a chap called Mark on 01242 573 888, who is a reseller of Autoprotect warranties.

I was told that the Premium Plus warranty now has a limit of £1k for approx £500 premium. The limit can be extended to £2k for an approx premium of £700. There is no wear and tear option and the warranty work can be carried out by any VAT registered garage.

Ive been speaking directly with autoprotect today with the person who has been directly involved with talks with TVR and the situation is this, supposedly!

They are currently in talks with TVR about picking up the 3 year 36000 mile warranty issued on new cars 05 onwards, should be an announcement in the next few weeks.
TVR dealers apparently cant offer the wear and tear warranty on a car of this age or newer as its supposedly covered by the 3 year one. As with any insurance you cant have 2 policies covering the same thing
They can offer this on older vehicles though 1300 plus inspection which also now has to include tappets
The wear and tear is only available through franchised selling dealers.
Autoprotects other policies as hab1966 correctly said is the Premium Plus warranty now has a limit of £1k, The limit can be extended to £2k for an increased premium. This is what can be had as a private buyer or from many non franchised dealers and indies.

Is this £2k limit per job or per year? The AA's £500 payment for any parts and labout costs looks good at £100 especially as you can claim up to 3 times a year.

The AA allows for 5 claims a year - Repair bills of up to £500 per claim less £25 excess (including VAT).

Although like with most policies, the small print needs to be read.

I have a PDF document from Autoprotect that i can send to people if they like. Anybody wanting this, just PM me through this site.

Good to see some activity for those within the 3 year warranty period.

What is a franchised dealer? hehe

I'll be renewing mine through my usual dealer in June. The extra assurance of wear and tear cover is worth it IMO.

Your just being picky now

I know what you mean about the BMW warranty. My mates got an M3. He thought hed leave it until a few things needed sorting out on the warranty. Low and behold the excess was £1000 ie £250 for each of the 4 items that needed sorting

My policy originally came from the TVR dealer when the car was sold to the 1st buyer and is the Premier Plus policy with a limit of up to the purchase price of the car and would therefore cover several engine rebuilds!

I presume that, as I will be renewing an existing policy and not buying a new one, I'll get the same terms on renewal.

No wear and tear cover but I don't think that's particularly needed.

Just thought I would add a piece about my warranty etc...

When I bought my Tam May last year, I had a full inspection at Waldenway thern took it to London TVR to assess for a warranty (nearer where I live). They went through Autoprotect who covered it including wear and tear for about £1,200. There is no limit on what they pay out and I have certainly had my money's worth with the master slave cylinder going as well as the rad going and some other bits n' pieces. London TVR have never quibbled (is that a word??) when I take it in and Autoprotect have been fine. Fingers crossed things haven't changed as I only have a few weeks until my current warranty runs out!

Anyone know if you extend/renew the warranty after it was authorised
by a dealer that it is necessary to go through the checks again.
This is providing the service model is followed !!! like I will
be having a 12k service shortly to coincide....

I renewed my warranty last month and had it serviced at the same time. My dealer didn't charge me for the inspection checks because they were able to check everything during the service anyway!
I would imagine your dealer should be able to do the same!
