The beady-eyed among you will have spotted a new scamera on the northbound A3, just after the Dennis turnoff.

And there's another being erected on the A31 very soon, as a young boy was killed a couple of years ago (by a vehicle that was within the speed limit).

Is this post tantamount to flashing an oncoming vehicle, warning them that a speed trap is ahead? wobble

The thing that makes me so angry about that camera is it is a revenue earner and not about road safety. It is situated very close to the end of the 50mph zone so naturally you will be speeding up as you approach the national speed limit zone so more cars will be caught.

If they were actually interested in road safety the camera would be situated at the brow of the hill just as you go under the A31 to slow you down as you come into the junction where the cars join from the left off the A31.

Thankfully, due to where I live (at the moment), if I'm coming up the A3 then I come off the dennis junction but that's harsh anyway, putting one just before the NSL signs. Do you know if this is permanent, cos I saw some roadworks round there today?

The only place on the A3 going past Guildford where speed could be a problem is the bend at the A31 junction, and a VAS and/or advisory speed limit would be better anyway.

Is this the one that the camera partnership has been planning to install for a while on the single carriageway stretch near the town centre, by Agraria Road? If so, then I'm really not looking forward to lots of harsh braking from other motorists, due to the hill.

I think it is only for the repairs to the 2 bridges ,as the whole section had been made narrower with cones either side on the London bound side, also the camera is linked up to a Generator ,so I guess its temporary ,

Man I am spending to much time on that Road !!!!!!!
