Just Bought a black 56 plate 6.0vxr. How happy am I!!! Having spent the last month as a voyer on the forum I wanted to wait till I had a car to say HI!!!
Bit cleaned out but looking for the best/most sensible bhp to bucks ratio, any suggestions?
Pick the car up on Friday. See you out there.

Wortec supercharger, £5K bolt-on = 500+hp (with potential for A LOT more)............you might want to add AP brakes to that as well (£2500)

Depends what your goal is.
Exhaust is a must, then decide if you want lots more power or just a bit more.
Its a hard decision and sometimes you dont know until you have gone too far.
It then goes from the top down

tune
cai

cam
heads

supercharger
turbo

All mods need a retune to suit, cam and heads will beat a non intercooled supercharger, but wont touch an intercooled setup. If you get to that point things will start busting or runing out of steam, like fuel pumps, clutches, diff's etc

Spending some time reading www.ls1tech.com wont go to waste. Its probably the best single source of information on lsx engine modifications there is.

ls1-australia.com, ls1.com.au are also good stop off points for holden specific stuff. You can hit the likes of forum.efilive.com if you are into tuning too.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

As for mods

really cheap - airbox mod and K&N filter - £30 to £40 quid roughly
brakepads - 95-100 quid a set from Monkfish, a lot of people on here swear by them over standard
ripshift - £400 for much more satisfying gear change
exhaust and tune £1500-£2000 depending on who and where, lots more noise, bit more ooomph
add headers to the exhaust package for around 600-1000 and gain more ooomph and lots more noise.
diff - £1500-1600 from Monkfish, get some 3.9 gears in for improved acceleration
AP Brakes - £2400-2500, certainly better than standard VXR, wonder how many actually get full use out them
supercharger - £4500-5500, think LSV are cheaper than Wortec on this, both get excellent performance even without intercooler, reckon on another 2-3k iirc for an intercooler setup.
twin-turbo - pushing £10k now but oooohhhh 700bhp, brown undergarments recommended

as ringram also mentioned, loads of options re cams, heads, internals etc, all readily available at fairly cheap prices from the US and Oz. You then need to find a good installer and pay for fitting and tuning and there are several good ones on here, in fact I think Monkfish are putting together a package of heads and cams.

Most common are air intake, exhaust and tune, followed by AP brakes - some say you need them, others say not for an everyday driver so spend the money elsewhere.

That airbox mod Well Fans refer's to, is that a home mod with an element change? or an aftermarket mod you can buy from somewhere?

Cheers

Wortec do it as standard with their tune - you can do it yourself at home though with some basic tools and a new filter. Discussed on this thread and a link to instructions on another site is in there.

Thanks for the welcome. Last time i felt like this was when i bought a new mobile phone, lots of options.
Going to try the car as a daily driver and as i leave for work at 4.00am bit concerned about the noise of an exhaust mod. I know that Monkfish do a switchable one but it still LOOKS noisy on their graph. Like the idea of a supercharger. Will it work on a std exhaust?
