hi new member 4.2 what a culture shock ex evo pilot what is normal oil pressure running tick over where can i buy new carpet in both footwells ,any advice on ownership much apreciated many thanks davy

70 when cold and on the revs. This drops to 60 when warmed up. Tickover when warm is about 30/40...cant remember. These figures will vary from car to car. Do a search, as this gets asked quite a lot.

after a lot of soul searching i ditched japanese tech for sheer grunt i dont no if is worth it my ellios violet 4.2 is a monster; compared to evo 6 has anybody met a jap motor in anger? what was the outcome any tvr tuners in scotland :?any advice on ownership thanks davy

dffy i've recently come from the world of GTR's .. its a culture shock for sure but worth it nonetheless.

my pressure is 65/70 when cold .. under light load it can be around the 40ish mark and then hot idle can be anywhere from 25/30 ..

In terms of tuning it you've bought the wrong one .. the 4.5's are more tuneable, 4.2's not so i'm afraid. Thing is though, i don't feel the need to tune it, kinda pretty much perfect how it is in my opinion.

As the above post, hang it in 2nd or 3rd gear and then floor the er, you'll be hard pushed to find anything that will beat it.

I had an Evo (Y reg) get past me recently, but I was to idle to drop a gear/gears. I was doing 55 in 5th, 2000 rev's, and couldn't pick up quick enough.

After that though, with the correct gear selected, I reigned him in at about 130 in fourth, but surprisingly he slowed quite dramatically for a left bend, it was a little bit damp, and I almost rammed him.

I got a set for christmas. Although technically overmats, I replaced the front carpet with the autostyle mats. Good fit and gave the interior a real lift.

Comming off a rounadabout with an EVo up my chuff, we were neck and neck in 2nd (i was wheelspinning) in 3rd i started making significant progress away from him, in 4th he became a speck in the distance as i hit around 130/140ish
They did have some 1000bhp Skyline, but i never had the Mis/fortune to drag that.

Evo's are incredible off the line, they tend to run out of steam in the mid / top range though.

Something comparable is a Skyline however you'd need to tune it to 600hp plus to beat a Cerbera ...
