Have looked at various companies who are able to provide accommodation. Any recommendations would be gratefully received, as this will be my first LMC. Two provisos though: a relaxed comfy atmosphere and safe parking for the beast are absolute must haves.

Also, has anybody dealt with Callender Classic?

Ta ever so.

Do you want to be very close to the circuit or a short drive away?

Hello cooperlola,

Not too bothered really. Fay and I are approaching this from different angles. She is happy to potter around the area on her own for a day or two whilst I sniff petrol at LMC. After LMC we will probably drive to Rheims and explore further as we are thinking of buying a place in la belle France.

Personally I'd book direct myself rather than paying an agent his cut. You can buy your tickets direct from the web site and as regards the hotel why not ring the Le Mans tourist office? They speak good english. Go here:-

Agree with Lynx. If you don't think it's too far away then try
www.normandie-chambres.co.uk/
Owned by a fellow petrol-head (and mate).
I don't know about the status of this www.lestroisjours.com/ one in '08 as the guy is currently playing house-father to two kids so it isn't open at present.
This place is also lovely
www.chateau-de-chanteloup.com/gb/index.html but pretty much self catering with a restaurant. Still, it could be more pleasant for an o/h who isn't interested in the racing.

Thank you both. Had a good rummage and found a good place a few miles away from LM. Room reserved for 2008, and may I add, not the first caller to do so either.

Have the dates for the Classic in 2008 been announced yet?

No to the last question. I'm awaiting a press release imminently. However, in January they told me "beginning of February", then two weeks back "this week we expect". I'll publish as soon as I hear.

I have heard "hot off the press" that it is july 11/12/13th 2008. My source should be reliable but lets see

If they stick to the formula of the last two editions it should be correct but there were murmurs about moving it back to late September. There is nothing up on the site nor have I had the usual press email so -as yet - the dates are just rumours.

What dates have you booked for?

No one can can book for a specific date yet, but here is a tip for those who want to book now. Just say to the hotel that you want to book for the 24 hour classic and most of them, if the hotel isn't already pre-booked like a lot already are on a permanent basis, they'll take your booking and await the confirmation of the actual dates. By way of an example the Auberge on the Mulsanne straight is always pre booked by the Morgan club on a permanent basis. That way you can beat the rush and know that you are already in since the rush will start as soon as the date is announced.
