Cheap HID Conversion

Hi all

I know there is already a thread running on light conversions. I just wondered if anyone had tried these:

I fitted some from a group buy on the mkiv golf owners club, cost me £120 all in, and i am very impressed with them! They dont allow you to see further, but really do brighten up the light that is in front of you. If you want to go for the brightest go for the 4000k's, The higher up you go the bluer they get, but not as bright. I went for 6000k's, and they make normal Halogens look crap!!!

I think they also make the car look a lot more modern, they wrok well on the golf as it has a clear front lens, would look best on cerbs with the light pod conversions i think!

I've put a H7 version kit in my car, its got Tuscan style headlights, from ebay £100, the same seller, Hids- Direct, has the H4 kit for £170. The difference in light output and look of the car when there on is quite stunning. I fitted one then put the lights on, it made the halogen one look like a candle compared to the hid! Easy to fit to, other than the bulbs were difficult to get in the holders because the lights aren't in the origional position behind the cover under the wing.

forgot to say, if you go for a h4 kit then it'll have a double HID bulb, mine are H7 main and H1 full, so still have halos for high beam, which dont do much now!lol! Id like to get a H1 HID kit to complement it really.

I self-installed a similar Hi/Lo HID 6,000K kit over xmas. They are great compared with the Halogens. A bit more expensive than the kit above but come with a 2 year warranty. Details at:

ill try and find my box they came in, its in the garage roof somewhere, they also have a 2yr warranty on them i forgot to say, that includes the bubls too! Although its the ballasts that are the expensive part!
