Okay I've just about convinced myself its time to spend some more money on the Monaro and thought I'd look at the intake side of things. Before I go order this stuff from the US do any of the dealers on here have any of these items in stock or kicking about the back of their garages?

Fast 54003 LSX Intake Manifold (90mm)
Fast 54008 FAST 90mm Throttle Body
Fast 54023 LS1 Fuel Rail Kit with fittings

Failing that has anyone got a recommended source in the States or Oz, I'm looking at AtlanticSpeed.com as they are the only ones I've found in the States that will definately ship to the UK.

You dont need the fuel rails mate. The stock LS1 is designed to fit.
Get the port seals though, as they can be a PITA to seal.
Also many say the fast90 throttle isnt good. I think texas speed are doing a deal for around $1000 with a UMC throttle body.
I have the nick williams one which is fine too.
If anyone is wondering about the Fast78mm its a waste of time go with the 90

What gains did you make with the FAST and NW Rich and what real world difference did you notice?

tbh the fuel rails are just for a bit of bling, figured they wouldn't make much odds - will take a look at Texas Speed.

I wasnt sure, beforehand, but with the ls1tech crowd swearing by them. I jumped in and picked one up at sema off Angie from Thunder Racing.
A definitely noticeable gain and when logging engine airflow, with no other changes it went from 0.86g/cyl to 0.95g/cyl
So a 9% increase. The yanks say you can get up to 35rwhp from the change.

So yes its definitely worth while. Now under full throttle I'm getting atmospheric pressure rather than a few kpa less than.

Roger is fitting a certain set of pacemakers this coming week (Thanks Sean) & ls7 clutch and so ends my mod fest and back to the dyno.
Im hoping to beat VXR500 numbers.. but we will see.. LS6 intake and try-y headers had me at 350rwhp pre dyno tune and I gained quite a bit on the dyno, then more again from the fast. My goal is 400rwhp.

This sounds interesting. Would you mind giving us an idea of what the total costs have been for you to get to this level of power? No problem if you don't want to share, but it'd be very interesting to know how the costs compare to a supercharged setup.

Of course this may have been done to death before, in which case I shall go forth and flog myself with a frayed fan belt....

Thunder will defo ship to the UK too.

Wasnt there another company making an intake ( the shiny one ) for the LSx, that was a lot cheaper than the FAST, yet supposed to be as good ?

Damned if I can remember the name of it

quick webesearch reveals...Professional products at Byunspeed. Id guess these guys will ship to the UK. They were hinting to me via PM to buy a clutch from them over on LS1Tech not that long ago.

Id guess there are other sponsors over on LS1Tech who would ship to the UK.

The big names like that will probably have them in stock too.

I ordered some Jesel rockers off a guy recently....took over a month to get them. Not something he carries in stock though. If stuck, Im sure he could get you the intake and any other bits needed.

Be interested to know how you get on Rich. AS you know my last run was at 385rwhp. It turn out I had soem duff O2 sensors as well and after having replaced those the car is running rather better unsurprisingly.

The FAST and 90mmTB might be my last hurrah on this car if it makes a noticeable difference - along with an LS7 clutch..

Yes good numbers Sir. Your cam is a little larger than mine, plus Im sure Paul spent some nice time on the dyno with yours. However based on Boss's 359rwhp rating from his VXR500 (At SurreyRR and WRC bonnet down) you have beat the VXR already! Ive not done a full dynotune yet, so will do a power run as soon as I have. Watch out! (Hopefully)

As for buildup costs;
Cam $300
Heads $1250 (Dart LS1 Pro1 205's)
Gaskets, bolts etc $200
Timing set $150
Oil pump $150 (optional)
Injectors $250
Fast & throttle $1050
Tune (free for me) well cost of efilive $550
Roger's time to fit ~2 days IIRC (Call Roger (Monkfish) to confirm)

So around $3000US or say £1700 Plus labour approx.

You can run mid 11 sec 1/4's with just heads and cam no problem. "Oztrack" Steve in Oz does this in his 4 door HSV with a small 216/220 cam from memory.
It really depends on what power you want. A intercooled supercharger will blow it away. But the entry level chargers with no cooling are around par.
I posted a link to chipmaster in oz who do loads of work on holdens showing a non-intercooled supercharger losing out to a cam only setup. Of course with a supercharger you have a good base to go further. Heads and cam you are at the end of that line.. unless you use nitrous.

But for a daily driver, with stock appearance, servicing and maintenance costs its a valid choice.

Ls6 intake and no (dyno) tune 350rwhp. Somewhat off the pace. (though only 9rwhp off boss's vxr) However now with fast90, larger headers and soon to be dyno tune I expect to get closer to 400. But no printouts yet. So yes pure speculation as to what it will be for now.
