350i cooling system

Hi all
Don't post very often but had a low oil pressure problem last year and got loads of advice on here. Unfortunately ended up being crank reground, new oil pump gears, bearings etc. Cheap though after sought your advice on guide prices.
Just had car ticking over in garage for 45 mins, it seems to get hot but doesn't boil and fan kicks in and out as it should. Fan overide switch also works. Is this hot temp normal? Should I consider radiator re-core or double fan installation and what is the cost of these?
Also I am taxing the beast 01.04.07 and wonder if there are any west yorkshire meets which I could attend to get to know you all?
Last year I attended Manor Golf Club a few times, Harewood House, BNG and of course BBWF.
As it was my first wedge owning year I kept a low profile (don't know why)! but the wife will remember dickys gonads forever! (her exact comment was "look at the fu***ng size of them". We enjoyed 2 fantastic nights at BBWF but tended to stick with Karl Cordwell and Sanou Meah from the WY crowd as others were unknown to us.
Look forward to putting faces to names at this years BBWF which I have already booked for friday and saturday.

Your cooling system sounds spot on, Wedges run fairly hot when static, with no airflow through the grill, lots of heat generated from the manifolds and no metal bodywork to act as a heat-soak soon raise the under bonnet temperatures.

Yeah typically they will go up to the red then the fans cut it down to 90 (needle vertical) and it will cycle between the two, but when you start moving it will go down to 80 and stay there.

mine gets hot enough when left on idle with fan kicking in & out when it should BUT when driving it just seems to run very cool (70) and the heater output is naff. is this common or do I have a dodgy stat?

Check that the temp gauge is accurate first. There is an adjustment resistor for 350i's in series with the sensor, if it's wrong the gauge will read low.

Yeah - so long as you keep it topped up without any airlocks you should be ok - they all run hot.

Mine does that too. Think it's normal. Put a coat on and let the exhaust music warm your ears
