Seriously what is the most obvious cause of water ingress in the drivers side floor, never had a problem before just noticed this morning that the DS carpet is soaking.

Thought I would ask before I spend hours rummaging around on my belly tomorrow.

I think the sealant around the clutch reservoir inspection hatch is a favourite.

Thats where mine was coming in. It looked OK, but I chopped it all out and resealed and it cured the problem.

There is also (on mine)a small hole in the floor just in front of the drivers seat. It should have a rubber stopper in it, lift the carpet. It may or may not have come loose (mine had) doesn't let rain so really hard to pin down why your carpets are damp - but when you are on full tilt gallons flood it as the water runs along the base of the car. Fortunately a piece of pi3s to sort!

I think I am talking about serious amount of water since the vehicle has been standing for some time, so I think ingress rather then sprayinf water

I had that from the previously mentioned clutch fluid reservoir cover thing. I think that windscreen seals can cause it too. The other classic thing is to have the seatbelt caught in the door which I've also done before...

i had such high hopes for this thread given the title

i have some dampness on the drivers carpet too, will check the seals tomorrow, will also try and post some pics whilst im doing it.

Has the seal separated where it joins?

On my drivers’ side the join is slightly in a different spot than the near side but is above the lowest point of any possible water entry point.
