Hi

Are there any decent websites that allow you to test your Broadband connection speed for free, i've had a quick look on Google but i'd like a recommendation before i'm convinced the test is accurate.

Just type in to Google "broadband speed checker" there are loads, and one will suit your needs.

One of my favourite sites for this sort of thing is www.msv.dk - has some other tools that are quite handy.

This one is the only one that i've found to give reliable readings for higher speed connections.

Everything else seems to think 50mb = 11 mb, so are obviously throttled.

No it doesn't. I have got figures 30+Mb/sec through it (at work).

I've only got 11.5 max on that, with an uncontended 50mb connection that came out as just over 50 on various others.

Just one thing to bear in mind. If you want meaningful figures then you need to be hardwired to your router, numerous wireless hops or at the end of a contended hub will probably not produce the figures you are looking for.
