I want to go to Le Mans at some point. Has anyone had experience of getting European breakdown cover? With my current cover they will not cover any car over ten years old whilst abroad. confused

I have booked to cross the channel a couple of times this year, both with the Tunel & ferry. Both offered travel insurance & motor breakdown.

I've just booked up with the "AA" for the "Cerburgring" trip next month.

You can do it on their website, and don't need to be an existing member.

So have I, cost £22 as a member. Also got AA breakdown for Le Mans last year and IIRC cost £30. For the peace of mind, worth every penny

Speak to the RAC - both of our old cars (aged 42 and 70) are covered on their European Breakdown. You need to mention if you are a member of a club such as the TVRCC as this helps.

Eh ???????

They charged me £36 !

Perhaps they're getting me back for the five grands worth of claims on their sixty five pound warranty scheme laugh

Mrs Dalesman is right re mentioning the TVRCC (assuming you are a member)if you get a quote from RAC. I went to Le Mans in the S 3 years ago and as the car was over x (7/10??) years old it would have cost almost double the usual price but with car club membership it came down by a chunk. Maybe because a club member looks after the car better and hence less risk or something? You do need to tell them you are a member though as they didn't ask me.

Russ, I just booked 2 AA Euro. Taking the Audi to EuroDisney for 4 days next week, AA charged £26.73 and for the 3 days at the 'Ring with the Cerb they charged £21.06. Member's prices obviously

Go figure? Cerb cheaper breakdown cover than a new Audi?! (mind, Audi is 4 up and Cerb Im flying solo?)

The four up bit might explain it Nick.

I renewed my membership just before I bought the Euro cover aswell......they've probably got me on some sort of blacklist....

Either that or they've been on here reading about my oil usage
