Hi Guys
Am seeking some advice as to whether it is possible to squeeze much more power from the 3.4 996 without major engine work or spending a fortune. Sold my M5 last year and have since owned z3m coupe and audi s4. Neither suited for various reasons and need to quell my want for a porsche, has to take me to le man in june and stay close to fellow pistonhead freak who has 6.0 vxr monaro (also ex m5 owner). please help! Cheers Ric

Hi there

you would be lucky to get 30bhp with full exhaust system and remap...want more power..buy a GT3.

I don't see a 3.4 996 being too far behind. It will out handle the monaro with ease. Looks a whole lot better too.

Or, up your budget to 40k, get a turbo, remap it for a comfortable 470bhp and spank it good and proper.

Thanks Guys appreciate the input, supercharger sounds mad and a GT3 would be a dream, but im on quite a tight budget. Re-map- exhaust looks like the way forward. anyone recomend a tuner in the surreyheathrow area?

You own a Porsche, he owns a Vauxhall, nuff said laugh

www.dmsautomotive.com

I've seen reviews in Autocar of some of their cars, and they seem like they know their stuff.

DMS have an excellent reputation. I would vouch for them.

You could get some decent gains with a zorst, manifolds and remap. You’d get a more driveable car as oppose to a massive increase in power, you'd notice 25BHP peak and an increase in the mid range.

Many say it's pointless, but if you use a decent tuner it's worth it imo
