Help - Javascript
Discussion
I try and watch the Utube links but get the message my javascipt is old or turned off. When I download the latest javascript it claims to have downloaded successfully but despite a reboot I get the same message when I try and watch a utube video. I have even gone through the 'how to turn javascript on' thing still no luck.
I have a Windows XP computer.
Any ideas?
cheers
Rupert
PS seemed to start after I deleted what I thought were OLD javascipt versions

Javascript is built into IE but can be disabled.
To enable or disable JavaScript:
1. Go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options...
2. In the Internet Options window, select the Security tab (at the top of the window).
3. Under the Security tab, select the Internet Web content zone.
4. Under Security Level for this zone:
a. to enable JavaScript:
If there is a slider bar move the slider bar to Medium. Otherwise, if the security level is Custom:
i. Click on the Custom Level ... button at the bottom of the page to open the Security Settings window.
ii. In the Security Settings window scroll down until you get to the section called Scripting (near the bottom).
iii. Under Scripting there is a catagory Active scripting, select the option marked Enable for this catagory.
iv. Click the OK button.
b. to disable JavaScript:
i. Click on the Custom Level ... button at the bottom of the page to open the Security Settings window.
ii. In the Security Settings window scroll down until you get to the section called Scripting (near the bottom).
iii. Under Scripting there is a catagory Active scripting, select the option marked Disable for this catagory.
iv. Click the OK button.
5. Click the OK button.
I am assuming you dodn't mean Java
Still problems-
Javascipt is definitely enabled.
The exact problem is with the Flash player - adobe I think.
I follow the link to Adobe and download the latest flash player, this is done by clicking on the install button on the adobe website - the graphic comes up on the window in use saying it's downloaded successfully - however when I then close that window and try and play a u tube video I get the same message about needing to download the latest flash player -
does anyone else suffer with this loss of flash player?? Is it anything to do with Active X thingys?? I've uninstalled and reloaded IE7 to no avail....... HELP PLEASE
