Performance Issues - Delays in Refreshing / Serving Pages
Discussion
Ted,
Me, and 2 colleagues that are also PH-ers are experiencing performance issues, both with Gassing Station and also other aspects of the site, specifically the Classifieds section.
The symptoms are some latency after clicking, a progress bar that barely moves, then a sudden refresh of the page.
For example, I was looking at a car advert last week with one colleague, and we both timed it. At the very same moment both browsers sprang into life and served the requested page.
The problem also seems to be intermittent as for whole periods the site seems to work quite seamlessly, then suddenly it freezes up.
We are all on different ISPs.
Any ideas?

Reckon it's the hamster mate... perhaps I should lend them Sparky..?
Interestingly I've had this issue for a while... but assumed it was client side updates. In fact, I have to click the IE6 refresh button to update the Gassing Station as the What's New --> Last Visit buttons don't give me the latest postings...

It aint getting any better, I cant get a page to fully load, I just get about two thirds, and have to wait ages to get the last third to read the last posts on a thread. And as for posting, have ti hit submit, nothing, so hit back, and then forward and try again, its taking ages.
Once I get this posted, will call it a day on PH for tonight, its too frustrating.
Edited to add, once this was posted and I returned to the topic, it would only load as far as manngingers post before my last post on this page, so I couldnt even read my post after I posted it, had to wait an age to get to it and then edit to add this.

Hi ForumHeads !
Yes, still slow, takes about 30 sec. to load a page,
and some pages and forums even longer.
Wasn´t the slogan: "PistonHeads....speed matters"
??
Im am using IE7 (the new one from Dec.06).
Today is the first day this is slow here, otherwise very fast & fine.
Cheers,
Benni
