Fitting a bicycle to a wedge?

Is there any way of fitting a bicycle to a wedge? Maybe with some scaffording fittings to the roll bar?

And if so would the extra drag for 200 miles or so cost more in petrol than hiring a bike?

I had a tow bar fabricated when my car was viditing Mr Thorpe many many moons ago. It's not ideal, but holds a tow bar mounted bike rack which means that when I go off around the country racing Triathlons in the summer I don't have to leave the car at home.

I took 2 mountain bikes down to LeMans a couple of years ago, had a boot rack ratchet strapped round the boot, with the bikes going side to side and then another large ratchet strap going round the bikes under the car and back to bikes (via just behind rear wheels) tentioned just right so that at 90 or so the bikes still stayed upright even with the roof off.

Looked very silly and got some weird comments at Lemans as I pulled up like sacrilage you can't do that to a TVR but worked very well

Incredible - take a bike, add the word "folding" and relieve you of an extra 400 "folding".

Why not buy a normal bike, and angle grinder, some bits of metal, a decent MIG welder, all for under 400 quid total, chop the bike in two and weld on a couple of hinges....

Then you still have a MIG welder and an angle grinder for fixing the wedge.....

Or (--gasp--) you could unbolt the wheels, pedals and handle bars and stick it in the boot in bits. I know its a crazy idea...

Nice plan, but even the frame alone doesn't fit into the boot (unless you want to drive about with it open). I tried
