Hi,

I have currently got a Nikon D50, a Kit 18-55 and an F4 70-300 and 100GBP to spare...

My main subject is cars....

I was thinking of mabe getting a 50mm F1.8 , as there are some cheap ones around, but was also thinking of a macro lense, which I have no clue about.

What would you recomend?

Thanks

50mm f1.8 everytime.

p.s. There is no e on the end of the word lens.

eta. Actually I would get a sigma 30mm 1.4 as its about the same as a 50mm was on film cameras and would be better for everyday use and I love mine. (got it instead of the 50mm as I have a 60mm f2.8 macro)

the sigma is more cash though. about £250 iirc

Agreed.. no 'e' on the end hehe

Seriously, you'll struggle to get a decent Macro for £100. The 50mm is a quality lens, but if you are used to zooms, you have to get into a different mind set to use primes.

Is that what it is? Some say I'm mad! eek

It seems as if it's a fashionable time to have a prime or two. But read Ken Rockwell and you'd be forgiven for thinking that you only need a 18-200mm. scratchchin

Ken Rockwell is a mentalist, you have to take everything he writes with a huge pinch of salt.

Last thing I read he had basically given up on all his other bodies and was using a D40 all the time, guess he is getting weak arms in his old age.
