Went out this morning full of the joys etc etc intending taking the S to work in the spring sunshine.
Hadn't been out since January trip for the MOT but started first time despite low battery.
However, while the car idled fine, the boot wouldn't open and the ammeter was dead as the proverbial, so given the need for the roof panels and time running out, left it in the garage.
Any good ideas where to start would be much appreciated

If you don't know the trick to opening the boot, PM me.
Assuming you got it over the 2500rpm thats needed to get it to charge, (i.e. chargng light goes out), sounds like the alternator could use a refurb. Quite a few places will do that fairly reasonably and its not a tricky job to remove and replace..
