I think that my gearbox is on its way out so I have had a quote to have it re con'd - a very reasonable £375 plus labour but I have since found a low miles 6 speed box from an 03 V6 Mondeo. Do the six speed boxes go staight in as I have heard that the later Mondeo V6's ie 04 onwards use a Mazda box and won't fit. I have also heard that the older 6 speed boxes do fit, the driveshafts are the same but the gear selector rod is different.
Can anyone shed some light on all this ?

Engine mounts are all different on 6spd to 5spd. Struggled to get some when I was looking, might be some available from the factory now.

No 6speed is stronger casue it has three separate rails.

5 spd + some strengthening is more than enough - spend the money on driver training

I'm being told that the 5 spd box is only good for 340lb ft.
So I may have mis informed you.
