So, if I sell - (which is looking likely), and I was to be lazy and trade in - what silly offer is a garage likely to make.

Chimaera 500
98R
47K
PAS
Full leather
Full TVR / Specialist
New clutch
New tyres
New Radiator
Leven this that and the other
New battery

I know its an open question, but looking for some rough figures.

Cheers.

Have a look in the classifieds for what people are asking for similar cars and then knock a few thousand off. That'll get you a reasonable idea.

I would do it myself but it would be too depressing.

Looking to change, Jon? What car could possibly tempt you from your Chim 500 monster?

yes Sounds depressingly plausible.
What's worse is that no matter how pessimistic and realistic you think you're being in your expectations, a dealer will still be able to take your breath away at the paucity of their offer.

Not necessarily, but I have owned it for over 5 years and I have been casually wondering what I could buy were I to sell it and the Corrado. Mind you, the latter would be madness after what I have just spent on it.
In reality I doubt I will sell either this year at least.

My car was basically the same as yours when I traded it in last September. I got £11,500 which I didn't think was too bad given that it needed a major service and new rear tyres.

The (non-TVR) dealer expected to sit on it over the winter so you might get a bit more now that the weather is improving.

It depends on what your trading it in for, I got a great deal off my chim 500 from the local TVR dealer but that was against a new Tuscan 2s

Hi,

Depends what you are trading it in for. Your car will have a true trade value, probarley circa £9k ish!!!!. Just try selling it directly to an independant direct and see what they offer.

Any thing over this will be an over allowance or discount on the new car. This over allowance is likely to be relativley small on a used car but more on a new vehicle.

Once again this will depend on the desirability of your chosen replacement car.

If an Audi is your chosen model drop me a mail

A friend of mine bought an R reg 5L chim from, er..hmm not allowed to say am I. Anyway, local TVR indie. It cost him 16K. 3 weeks later he got posted to the States, so he asked them how much they would buy it back for. 10K was the answer. At best urine extraction.
Advice: If you want to sell, don't PX or sell to a dealer. Best price for you is a private sale.

That's pretty bad planning on his part. He must have known there was a risk of being posted overseas at short notice?

I was offered 2 of the cars they have advertised at £14995 for £10k trade!!!! Regret not buying 1 of them now, but am really craving nother 5 litre!!!

To be fair to these guys they do not sell as many cars as a regular franchise but have similair overheads. So to stay in business they naturally have to have larger profit margins!
