Might be a dumb question, but anyone know of someone that doesn PAYG ADSL or short term contracts, (couple of months)? I've just signed up to Sky TV, but now been told that they can't do any of their quoted packages, but I can get one from them thats normally free for £17pmth. They've said its due to BT not giving them enough lines, but 'any day now' it'll be resolved..

My alternative is to go with Orange as my mobile is with them, so its minimal cost to me pmth. However, that ties me into the same contract with them that I currently have which I was about to change in June when that expires..

Got all the kit I need, just need a connection for a couple of months.. Ideas anyone?

I used http://freeola.com/broadband when my daughter rented a house for 3 months.
They did have £9.99/mth for 8Mb offer for the first 3 months and it was cancellable with one onth notice, but the offers look a little different now, so YMMV.

It all worked fine, anyway, and they were quick to connect especially bearing in mind that the house didn't even have a working phone when she moved in.

Wouldn't touch Sky with a shitty stick at the moment.

True, Virgin do a PAYG all but, but check your package, as some as per month, others are 12 month tie in.

Thanks, packages are deceptive.. Found one that claims to be a monthly package, but its actually for a minimum of 12 months..

Zen look like the best deal so far..

www.adslguide.org for horror stories on sky, how about no broadband for 2 months and the scripts that tech support not covering the problem, yes it is cheap, but prefer to pay a bit more and get the service i want

www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk

Download Speed: 6816 kbps (852 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 375 kbps (46.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

£40 per month on a month's notice - www.merula.net although there are cheaper options, think the cheapest is £17.99
