I have just purchased an 04 TVR T350 and have booked the car in for a complete Permagard package inside and out, works out about £250. I have heard only good things about this product, does anyone have anything to add ?

Should I shouldn't I ?

Please help, I do have time to cancel if its the wrong thing to do, its booked for the 26th, I will post before and after photo's to help people if I go ahead.

Cheers Dudes

I'm always a bit weary of a product that claims you never have to wax the car again.

I have emailed you the kind of options there are for that kind of money.

Its nothing more than glorified sealant... expensive too at that price.

Some of the things they are mentioning on the website made me smile...

A pro detailer will achieve better results for less money...

Its the same with all these so called 'life' treatments that includes:

Autoglym lifeshine
Jewelultra Diamondbrite

They are synthetic based sealants and you need to use a preserver after washing to 'maintain' the look...

Sythethic sealants also lack depth and warmth compared to carnuba based waxes.

My advice would be to look elsewhere.

I would recommend the interior sealant such as Scotchguard if you have children but exterior I would just recommend buying a decent long term wax such as Collinite and keep the car clean.

Thanks for the advise, seen as all the people giving me advise seem to be detailers wanting the business (no offence meant by the way, i'd do exactly the same) I am gonna go ahead and have with done. I will then post before and after pics with a full list of everything done to the car and report on how it looks every month so that when someone else wants to know if Permagard is worth doing I will be able to give them a comprehensive answer. If the treatment needs a top up every 12 months then its not as if its gonna be for ever. The car only does 6000-8000 miles a year and very rarely in rain so i'm guessing it will probably last ok. To be honest I cant believe more people dont have an opinion on this product surely someone out there apart from Harry from EVO magazine has used this product ???????

Any more comment still would be greatfully received. Booked in for 26th March

Miracle - You seem to know what your talking about have just watched your vid on your website.

Is it any good at all ? I want to enjoy driving my car not spending all day saturday waxing and polishing like I have done with all my cars in the past. In your line of work you must have seen cars done with permagard ? If I was to come to you or another detailer, what would you suggest for something that low maintenance ? I just can't be bothered waxing my car all the time, comments ? I do appriciate I could get it waxed every month but that would mean people coming to the car or me taking the car to people.

Call me cynical, but do Permaguard happen to run an advert each month in EVO?

One of my Connoisseur treatments can last up to a year with one single layer of Royale wax, one of my clients has a bmw B5 Alpina, its done 15k since jan last year, and only had 2 layers of wax! Not forgetting it lives outside and gets washed monthly!!!!

For a more detailed insight to one of my details see here - www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=25400

None of my clients have there car waxed monthly, some quarterly but most have a Mini detail with another layer 6 months after the first detail. I provide all my clients with washing instructions and advise them on the correct products and techniques for there car

Kind Regards
Paul.

I had Permagard treatment on my car. The customer service is very good and they will always sort out any issues you may have, which as it turns out is a good thing as it never really worked on my car and kept needing re-applying. The finish is good and the protection at first is brilliant, but as I found out it does not get close to lasting a year. I used to get mine topped up every six months, but realistically it probably needed re-doing after about four. Now, my car is not garaged and is used seven days a week so is probably worse case, but I did expect better. Seemed very prone to micro scratches as well, even when washing/drying very carefully. I now detail my car as there are many synthetic sealants out there at least as good as Permagard, plus you can achieve a better shine by then topping up with a good wax.

I bought a 05 C2S last year and it appears it was permaguarded from new but not "kept up". The paint is metallic Black (which appearently is the worst as blacks are for showing scratches and stuff) now looks quite dull almost milky at certain angles. Th car by no means look terrible but somehow something odd is going on........... and my attempts at polishing have resulted in smudging and major difficulty getting the polish off. I've tried using all types of polish including really expensive ones auto glym and meguiars carnuba wax. I suspect the Permaguard is somehow sticking to the car and spoiling my efforts.. I know this thread is about getting Permagard BUT I would dearly love to get the F@cking stuff off!
Does any one know how? even tried T cut on a small area and that just seems to smudge and go funny - NOT IMPRESSED! might try a clay bar as that is suposed to do wonders, but right now I'd say don't bother!

Before Permaguard is applied, the car is washed in some sort of crystal wash to make sure the Permaguard sticks to the paint. Maybe it would be an idea to speak to someone that does Permaguard and see what they say about getting it off.

Co-polymer remover shampoo - that'll do the trick. Think local AutoSmart should have some, if they do it, otherwise a quick google using the UK button.
Forgot to add, probably works best through a foam lance and left to dwell for 5-10 mins (but not dry out)

co-polymer remover shampoo! well i never thanks so much for this tip! I will try and get some and report on success BTW. I tried a clay bar on an area last night and I think this has removed it too and has left that area very smooth but it was a bit dark and i probably need to test a bit more before pronucing success...

I would NOT use any of these so called products. Seb at BMW Car magazine tried a lifetime sealant and has now gone back to a really good wash, and then a couple of coats of high quality Carnuba wax.

Nothing will keep your car clean other then a good wash, a decent machine polish every few months and a few coats of wax.

The only decent protector is something like Xpel Paint shield or Ventureshield.

The best chemical sealant beyond layers of wax is probably Chemical Guys Jetseal #109.
