Just wondered if anyone has used Vredestein tyres.
Whilst having a couple of new tyres fitted to the euro box the other day,the manager of the tyre dealership was commenting positively about Vredestein.I will require a couple of new rears for the Chimaera this year, and notice Vredestein offer a Sportrac 2 tyre in the right size.
Any comments would be most welcome.

This is my honest opinion,
Do not f-[K about with cheap tyres.
It is not worth it, a false economy and bloody dangerous.
besides, a friend of mine had a puncture while he was working away from home, he went to a tyre dealer who fitted the right size tyre but with the wrong rating. Month later he was in an accident and his car was written off.
Guess what, his insurance company would not pay out because the tyre was not rated to the manufactured specifications.
TVR have specified ZR + 150 mph for Chimaera for a reason.
You can buy Dunlop SP for less than £100 rear £80 front and they are Z rated.
as I say its only my opinion.

Vredestein are not cheap tyres in se - they're just a lesser-known A-brand tyre (their winter tyres have always been regarded well, though). My Chimaera came with Ultracs in the correct size and speed rating at the rear, and after doing a bit of online research it seems there's little to be gained in swapping them before their time - in tests of somewhat relevant sizes together with the usual UHP suspects (Dunlop, Bridgestone, Goodyear Eagle F1, Michelin, Toyo) they are comfortably in the top third, being OK in the dry but very good in the wet (which should be a priority with regularly driven TVRs). They're not cheaper than most, either.
Sportracs however are not the UHP offering of Vredestein and I'd give them a miss for that reason. Also, there's no appropriate Chim/Griff front tyre available from them.
