Anyone fitted a TCS to their TVR? I've searched the forums and there seem to be a few who have - I'm interested hearing what the experience of others has been. Who fitted it, can it be DIY'd, was it worth it etc? The racelogic system seems to be the best I've seen so far.

Cheers,

Tom.

I seem to remember a thread on here a while ago, where someone had a traction control system fitted to their tiv (a Sagaris, I think), which caused a few problems in the wet! Don't remember much else, perhaps you could try a search on previous threads?

Yep it's been done by Steve Heath on his racing 520 SE Wedge (I think) working with the chaps at Tower View, give Mark a call www.t-v-r-services.co.uk I'm sure he'll be able to help or point you in the right direction. Rich...

Yes, it has been done. But it takes a fair amount of money, time and fettling to get it just right.

It would be a far better use of money to get extra driver training to help learn to drive without the safety net of TC though (and I mean that in the nicest way possible).

I'm sure someone has fitted the racelogic system to a cerb in the past. Maybe it was Faisal? ( www.tvrfreak.com )

I've no experience of retro-fitted systems but all the Traction Control systems i've come across fitted to 'normal' road cars have been too intrusive for my liking.
Lap times of a track would no doubt show the TC fitted car to be quicker but i wouldn't feel like i was driving the car.

From what I understand its used as launch control, then it disengages at 4000rpm to allow you to do your stuff. I know (sportie) on the sag forum has it fitted, send him an email.

Yes, fitted Racelogic to a Griff 500. Not a DIY proposition. You need a scope to set up the sensors so they match and even Racelogic had to do the final set-up as my specialist had done all the installation.

Very effective though, especially the adjustable slip angle. Made your neck hurt!

Not sure if it's in every one, but the TVR S series 'bible' by Steve Heath includes a chapter on the fitting of traction control to that wedge.

I've done a lot of comparisons with my system - had it now for 8 years. The RaceLogic system is very adjustable and providing it is set up well, it can provide as little or as much control as you want. I generally have it set to only come in during extreme situations like when I'm out of control as the extra help it provides can mean the difference between an exciting event and an expensive one.

It is no substitute for driver skill. Drive with it on like an idiot and it will keep you on the black stuff providing you are not expecting it to change the laws of physics. Drive smoothly and the car will go faster still and the TC will help tame those too aggressive moments. I also found the data logging facility excellent in analysing and improving my driving skills.

I don't see it as a substitute and it doesn't get in my way - I am still driving the car and making all the important decisions but it is a great safety net/learning aid.

Shpub: Thanks, just the sort of feedback I was looking for.

I agree there is no substitute for being a better driver, and I certainly don't claim to be a great one. But an electronic safety net that may prevent a huge bill, a trip to hospital or whatever can't be a bad thing.

The roads we drive on, and sometimes the conditions we drive in, the actions of other uses, and our own desires to push it a little can catch us out all too easily. I wonder how many TVRs would still be on the roads if they'd had a TCS. I bet it's more than a few!

Cheers,

Tom.

I have the race logic system fitted to the sagaris from new. Its not a bad system and is much better than the OEM systems fitted by the major manufactures. It is full programable with a laptop and via a control in the car and their website allows you to download the software and has a good instruction/fitting manual.

Is it any good? Yes it is but this RL system s in a different league to the stuff fitted to your Ford or VW. It has save my bacon a couple times at night when the road surface has changed and I am pushing on and have not noticed the road.

I use it as a safty net to ensure I dont end up posting on here that I have just put my car in a ditch, like many have this winter.

Cost was around £2k fitted and was done by Silverstone Performance and RL.
